Thursday 6 July 9 miles Hannington

Starting from White Hill south of Kingsclere, roadside parking at SU516565 where the Wayfarers Walk crosses the B3051 (OS Explorer Map 144) - we head  on this long-distance path south-eastwards to North Oakley and Freemantle Farm. There is then a section of road walking along a quiet lane, followed by an uphill section through woodland and fields (some overgrown, so long trousers advisable) to Hannington for a pub lunch at The Vine. Picnickers will find benches on the nearby village green. About 5.5 miles in the morning. We return to the start point by paths that circle the television mast on Cottington Hill (more overgrown paths here). The walk is hilly with long-distance views but no seriously steep gradients.
