Thursday 29 June 5.9 mile walk at Burghclere

This walk starts and finishes at The Carpenters Arms in Burghclere. We will experience some good downland views, sheltered tracks and wooded paths. Unless we have a lot of rain there is unlikely to be any serious mud to navigate. There are 3 stiles close to the start of the walk but no steep hills. There is one short stretch on a quiet road when we reach Old Burghclere. Please ensure you bring hats and suncream if the weather on the day demands it.

The pub will be open from 10am to take your food orders, so please ensure you arrive by then as I would like to start promptly around 10.15, to ensure we can take a sensible pace. You will be able to use the pub's toilet facilities from 10am. We expect to arrive back at the pub for a well earned drink and meal around 1pm. There is a new chef this year, so the menu will be changed.

After lunch, those who have time and have not been there before, can visit the Sandham memorial chapel with it's superb murals. It is close to the pub.
