Longparish, Bygone Railways & Murder in the Forest
Please join us for the walk. Starting in Middleton, we take in the village of Longparish and parts of the River Test. A quick detour to a bygone railway line, then back before heading into the countryside. Coffee is likely to be near Tracy's Dell. From here it is back into open countryside with panoramic views before joining the Test Way past another dismantled railway line (favoured by Queen Victoria), and then heading towards Faulkner's Down. It is near here that we will have lunch before walking towards the Deadman's Plack monument. Then it is time to start heading back towards the finish via the village of Forton.
There is the possibility of some wet areas by the river, but after this it should be quite dry underfoot. This is July – please bring plenty of water, as we will be in sun-exposed areas at times, although there should be shade for the coffee and lunch stops.
