CANCELLED - Wherwell 8.5 miles (figure of 8 ) walk

This walk is cancelled  - a casualty of the weather forecast.

This is a circular walk from the attractive village of Wherwell. There are two parts: 6.2 miles and 2.3 miles, so it is suitable for those who want to leave after the morning part. In the morning, we will visit part of Harewood Forest, walk alongside a stretch of the River Anton and enjoy some picturesque downland views. There are no stiles for this part, but several inclines including a steep (but short) one towards the end. There is an option to eat in the White Lion pub in Wherwell for lunch (which can be ordered at the start of the walk at 9.45) or enjoy a picnic nearby. After lunch, those with the inclination can enjoy an easy walk to Chilbolton and back crossing the River Test and Chilbolton common. There are two stiles for this part and some muddy stretches – but on the recce these were not significant.

It would be appropriate to bring poles if you use them, particularly for the ups and downs, and if there has been some recent rain, for the inevitable muddy sections.
