Abbotstone to East Stratton and return 9.2 miles

This walk is a nice mix of farmland, woods and a gently contoured valley. 
The route starts on the edge of the remaining earthworks which formed a small iron-age fort; it heads north on the line of several well known, long distanceh trails before following the valley of the Candover Brook for a short distance. Using a less well used path it climbs gently out of the valley now heading north-west and enters Thorney Down wood, a managed forestry plantation. The last part of the outbound route is level and uses field edges to emerge on the main street of East Stratton a picturesque, well preserved estate village just far enough from the noise of the M3. The return is the outbound in reverse direction and thus the same distance - 4.6 miles.
