9 miles Kings Somborne

A varied walk through farmland and woods on the eastern side of the Test Valley.  The walk begins with a gentle uphill stretch on a very lightly used minor road. We will pass the 12th C church at Michelmersh which may have snowdrops on display. There will be a short refreshment stop at the little-known and interesting Church of St John the Baptist at Upper Eldon and a chance to learn about its unique history. Another hour or so will see us in King’s Somborne where lunch and the usual facilities are available at the Crown Inn. After a civilised pause we drop down to river level and follow the Test Way back to the carpark.
