9 miles Fo8 Stockbridge and Down

The walk starts from the White Hart pub in Stockbridge at 10.00. It is a FO8 of 6 miles in the morning and about 3 miles in the afternoon. 

The walk starts with a steady climb up onto the hill to the west of the main road to Winchester, which will later be crossed to gain Stockbridge Down. From the edge of the hill fort, there  is a steep descent to the road, thence on to Leckford Golf Course and back to Stockbridge along the disused railway line to the White Hart for lunch.

The afternoon walk is through the town, over farmland  and back to the town along a quiet lane.
