8 miles Bartley Heath to Up Nately

Starts from the Derby Inn in Bartley Heath which is between Hook and Odiham just off the A287. It's 5.3 miles in the morning taking in some of the pretty Whitewater river, a section of the navigable Basingstoke Canal, then through Greywell and over Greywell Hill (walking just about above the Tunnel) to the disused section of the Basingstoke Canal. We follow that to the outskirts of Up Nateley then turn north to the noise of the M3 for a mercifully brief spell then down through Butter Wood and back to the pub for lunch. Picnic area nearby. The walk is mostly flat, with one easy stile

The 3mile walk in the afternoon goes east with very open countryside, nice parts of the canal and river, a nature reserve and a large rather industrial farm which we go through to keep away from the noise of the roads.

Preorder for lunch at the pub is needed; they would like orders in by 7pm on Tuesday.
