5 miles at Holybourne
The plan is to meet from 9.45, this will ensure sufficient time to order lunch, use the facilities and head off at 10.15 .
The majority of the walk is undulating Hampshire downland for approx 5 mile with only two stiles, which maybe avoided if the farmer has left the gate open for us.
Initially we will head off eastwards around the Holybourne cricket field, then cross over a small stream before making our way across to Upper Froyle following St Swithuns Way.
We will pass a few of the houses, where we can see the famous Froyle statuettes, before reaching the Church and the magnificent Country hotel, that has replaced the former Treloars College .
We then turn left to the cemetery where we can stop for a "banana break ".
The homeward leg heads across to the top of Holybourne Down (beautiful views on a fine day ), which we descend to carry on to the pond and church opposite Manor Farm House, where Alan Tichmarsh lives and occasionally broadcasts from.
Then only 5 minutes back to the pub !
