5 mile walk at Silchester

The pub will be open to use the facilities at 9.45 am, and we will leave at 10.15am

We start at the Red Lion on a country road just to the north of Silchester.  After a 100 yards on the road, we turn on to a footpath which leads through a wood, past Kiln Pond, then past the remains of an Iron Age hillfort called The Frith.  Finally, after 2½ miles, we arrive at Calleva Atrebatum.  After walking round the site, passing a long stretch of wall and visiting the amphitheatre, we return to the Red Lion via about a ¾ of a mile along a wooded path for lunch at about 1.00pm.  There are no stiles.

We should be grateful if you would let us know that you would like to come, and email us your order by Saturday 13 April.  The pub asks groups for orders in advance, and a deposit of £5.00;  we will pay the deposit, and you can let us have it on the day.
