4.5 and 3.5 Mile Walks from The Bell, St Cross Road, Winchester

These two circular walks from The Bell Inn, 83 St Cross Winchester both meet in the car park and both leave at 10.30. The plan is that they both aim to get back to The Bell at roughly the same time ~ 12.30. They will go somewhere in the local area, which covers St Catherines Hill, St Giles Hill, The Water Meadows, Winnall Moor, White Shute Ridge, Hockley Down, Twyford Lock, Compton and beyond. Moderate pace for both walks. The 3.5 to 4 mile walk will be flat. For the 4.5 - 5 mile walk a modest hill is possible unless it's wet. If it's wet we mostly avoid slippy areas and the mud. There is an option for lunch or a drink afterwards. Pre-orders are not needed. If you are not using the pub, there is 2 hour parking in Mead Road on the other side of St Cross Road. You should usually be back within that time, BUT IT CANNOT BE GUANANTEED. There is also unlimited parking in Hubert Road (off Mead Road) and 4 hours parking in Barnes Close (off St Cross Road, two roads closer to town than Mead Road)

The Blue Star No. 1 bus to Southampton, every 15 minutes from Winchester bus station or Chandlers Ford, stops at The Bell
